West Hull Netball Club Partnership - Centred Sports Massage Therapy

Centred is proud to announce a new partnership with West Hull Netball Club, providing massage therapy and bodywork to support the club’s players throughout the season.

The partnership sees Centred become the official massage therapy provider for West Hull Netball Club, working with players to support training, recovery and overall physical wellbeing.

Supporting netball in Hull, a physically demanding sport

Netball is one of the most physically demanding team sports. The game requires explosive jumping, rapid changes of direction, sudden stops, and repetitive landing, often on hard court surfaces. Research shows that the body absorbs up to 6.8 times its own weight in ground reaction forces when landing during play.

It’s no surprise that injury rates in netball are significant. A systematic review of netball injuries found that injuries to the ankle and knee were the most common, with the ankle accounting for between 13% and 84% of injuries across different studies. In one study of elite players, the overall incidence rate of injuries during match play was 33.9 injuries per 1,000 hours.

Regular sports massage therapy plays an important role in helping players manage the physical demands of training and competition. By addressing muscle tension, supporting recovery between sessions, and helping maintain mobility, massage can form part of a broader approach to keeping players on the court and performing at their best.

A partnership built on shared values

West Hull Netball Club represents exactly the kind of community organisation Centred wants to support: local sportswomen committed to their game, balancing training with work and family, and looking after each other on and off the court.

Netball remains the largest team sport for women in England, with record participation numbers in recent years. Supporting the women who play at grassroots level matters. These aren’t professional athletes with full-time medical teams. They’re fitting training around jobs, childcare, and life. They deserve access to the same quality of physical support that helps elite players stay in the game.

“We’re thrilled to be partnering with the incredible women of West Hull Netball Club, providing massage therapy and bodywork to support players with their training, recovery, and overall well-being.”

Zac Botham, Co-founder, Centred

What the partnership includes

Centred will provide massage therapy and bodywork support to West Hull Netball Club players, including:

Pre-season and in-season treatment. Helping players prepare their bodies for the demands of training and competition, and supporting recovery throughout the season.

Maintenance massage. Regular treatment to address the recurring tension patterns that develop from netball’s specific movement demands, including calf, hip, and lower back work.

Education and self-care. Sharing practical guidance on stretching, recovery practices, and looking after the body between sessions.

Qualified, insured, and committed to safe practice

All treatment provided through the partnership is delivered by Zac Botham, a qualified therapist registered with the Federation of Holistic Therapists (FHT) and a member of the Sports Massage Association (SMA).

Zac holds an ITEC Diploma in Massage and an ActiveIQ Diploma in Sports Massage, with professional indemnity insurance in place for all clinical work. This means West Hull Netball Club players receive treatment that meets professional standards and is subject to clear accountability.

For clubs considering similar partnerships, this matters. Working with a registered, insured therapist protects both players and the club.

Building connections in Hull and East Yorkshire

This partnership reflects Centred’s commitment to supporting the local community in Hull and East Yorkshire. We believe that quality therapeutic support shouldn’t only be available to elite athletes or those who can afford private healthcare. By working with local clubs, we can help more people access the physical support they need to stay active, recover well, and enjoy their sport.

West Hull Netball Club is the first of what we hope will be several partnerships with local sports organisations. If your club or team is interested in discussing how Centred could support your players, we’d welcome a conversation.
